It's been over eight years since the original Mega Man has had an installment in the main series with Mega Man 8 for the PlayStation. Since then, Capcom has explored the many faces of Mega Man in various incarnations, milking producing new games for its franchise constantly. But after a long break, it looks like the original may finally be coming home for a new installment.
Joystiq reports that the Office of Film and Literature Classification (the Australian version of the ESRB) has rated Mega Man 9 from Capcom as a G for General Audiences. The game is listed as multi-platform, leading to tons of speculation about where it will end up. A downloadable title? Retail? For the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360? The Wii with waggle enabled? Or possibly a move to handhelds? Certainly Mega Man hasn't been a staple of gaming for some time, but Capcom hasn't been shy about using nostalgia to their advantage lately. With E3 just over a month away, we may find out more details of this comeback soon.
